we interrupt our scheduled misery.....

for the few remaining bloggers who're sticking by us while we go through h*ll -

K wakes up soaking wet most mornings, through no fault of his own or the diaper because really, there's only so much that can be held in. We're in the largest size diaper so it's not like we can move up a size. I've heard all sorts of odd things like attaching a pad to the front to help absorb the extra, to double diapering him at night. Neither one of those options is appealing.

Any suggestions? Do the Huggies Overnights help? Anything would be appreciated, more because I hate for K to wake up wet than my dislike of doing laundry every other day. Seriously, what kind of mood would you be in if you woke wet with p*ss every morning? Exactly!

I've never tried the overnight diapers but maybe they'd help? Is it possible to limit his fluid intake a couple hours before bed? I know with a toddler sometimes things like that are just asking for more trouble than it's worth. Double diapering sounds hideously uncomfortable. I personally haven't had this issue before so maybe someone else can give you better suggestions.

I would also suggest no fluid after a certain point, like an hour or more before bedtime at least. If he's shown any interest in the potty this early, see if he'll try to go before bed to start a routine.

We used Pampers so I can't offer much as far as what Huggies can do.

I just think the key is starting with the liquid reduction.

I'm so sorry you guys are going through yet another rough patch. It really seems like you've had your share and now it's time for the universe to shit on someone else!

As far as overnight, Ant still wakes up wet fairly routinely as well. He doesn't particularly seem to care, so I just wipe him down and leave it at that. We put him in a new pair of pjs every night anyway, so I figure that's good enough. Everyone says that urine is sterile, so I'm not too worried about it. You can call me crazy if you like ;-)

That said, trying to get him to drink more during the day and less in the evening does sound like a good approach... if he'll go for it.

Yes, the Huggies Overnight diapers do work. We started using them about a year ago when Claire had the same issues with waking up with a leaking diaper. At the time she was only in a size 3 diaper and we tried moving up to a 4 for night time, but it still leaked. In the last year that she has worn the overnights, she has only had one leak at night and that's because she decided to unhook one side of her diaper and it was only half on.

There were times when we did the Huggies Overnights AND a diaper doubler!

I loved the diaper doublers. Those really worked for us, but then the store near us stopped carrying them...

Anyway: word from the wise: don't do Pullups Overnights. Just stick with the Huggies Overnights. They're more absorbent.
