in review

i had this elaborate post that summarized key points from each month however i noticed that it mostly centered about work shit this and work shit that. i don't want to tarnish these fresh digs with that (not yet...although, i'm sure when i get back from holiday on wednesday there'll be steamy job dung just waiting for me to clean up).

so, in brief, 2007:
work bit the big one! full of false promises and pots calling kettles black (ie: killjoy's true colors coming out front and center).

k is growing fast and has practically left babyhood in the dust. his vocabulary is expanding more everyday and he's even began short 2-3 word sentenences.

i miss shopping in the baby aisle, a bit. with each trip i realize that we are getting further and further out of the baby items - which saddens me a bit since we only go there for the diapers.

on the last day of 2007, k said "make the po*p" and within 3 minutes had indeed done it. ok, that probably seems very bizarre to be excited about that but i'm sooooo over buying diapers. i welcome potty training - and yes, i know there will be many accidents. if it saves spending $$$ on diapers and more laundry - well, i welcome it. (which is saying something because laundry isn't on my top 5 list of favorites things to do).

j's back made it through the year pretty well. if you remember how much shit we went through during 2006 then you understand the relief this brings.

i've realized that different strokes for different folks, and i'm done giving assvice to them. period! i've blogged off and on about a particular relative and how her way of doing things with her child make me shake my head in what-the-fuck wonder. for example, tonight, she is having people over to celebrate the new year. not a big deal except that her child is 10.5 months old and should probably be in bed BEFORE midnight. not to mention the noise in the house that will keep child awake. this relative bitches about how she doesn't have time to herself because child doesn't go to bed before 9 or 9:30PM...um, put child to bed earlier! she "can't find time to work out", blah blah blah...if she'd pull her head out of her ass she'd find the time by having child in bed by 7-7:30 and getting on the treadmill/whatever after that. i've offered suggestions like that but relative can't seem to get it. anyway, like i said, different strokes...it's her child and eventually the sporadic sleep schedule will catch up to both of them.

and finally, i'm going to get in gear and finish losing the remaining baby weight. actually, it's not baby weight anymore - it's "lazy ass" weight. i've been wishy-washy with it and that's got to stop. j and i are both going to do this. i think that together we'll be able to get there because we'll both be focusing on eating better as opposed to just one of us. that gives us a fighting chance because there will be less junk food in the house - always a must when it comes to eating better.

so there it is, my not-so-brief review of 2007. funny how a post takes on a life of it's own when you just start typing. i suppose i could go on for even more if i wanted to cover specific events - but i think you'd move on to another blog and i don't want that!

on the toilet training, I recently read "toilet training in less than a day" (or something like that) by Azrin and Fox - and it turns out it's actually how my mom trained me! I think there are a couple of things I'd change a bit, but overall it seemed like a very good approach to me. We're probably going to do it in a few months - I'm with you on being over diapers!

We did potty training recently- I have post after post on it. I used "how to potty train in one day"- after failing on my own.

PS Thanks for visiting. As for the tag line under our title- it's all my husband's doing. It was his blog to begin with... Then I took over.
